Subject:Effects boxes/pedals for non-classic B3 sounds

Has anyone tried using effects boxes (guitar or bass)to get quick and
easy real time chorus/flanger/phaser etc. type sounds for those
occasions when you want something besides the built in effects of,
say, a Hammond XK1? I bought a Zoom GI multi-effects box on impulse,
and it sounds horrible so I'll be returning it. I've seen the
Electro-Harmonix Stereo Polyphase advertised as suitable for
keyboards, and was wondering if anyone's tried it or some other
effects device? Thanks.
