Subject:OT: What I Like About This Forum
Just a little over a year ago, I was a total newbie,
wet behind the ears in clonewheel organs and making
that Hammond-style sound. How I made it here I am not
sure. But many here were gracious enough to help me,
new as I was, to get started in this fascinating
world, and I really appreciate that.
Another thing I like is the versatility of the folks
here. Some are almost pure kick-it-out rock junkies,
others are broader based, and some like me play
contemporary Christian music in church! But I still
feel like I fit in here. No, I don't get into all the
discussions regarding some of the more technical
aspects of things, although I can see how they are
interesting to many. (It sounds too much like work to
me since I am an engineer).
Obviously, the people are what make this forum so
interesting. When I don't like the discussions that
are going on, I delete several messages without even
reading them. I am not mad about it, just not
interested. For those of you that get irritated at
the current discussion topics, remember that YOU are
part of what makes up the group. If you would rather
get into some other topic, start one. Quite frankly,
I found the topic on sewing machine motors rotating
speakers sort of cool. After a while, I stopped
reading them, but some got deeper into the discussion
and that is cool too.
So, thanks to many here who have made my adventure
into Hammond-style playing so interesting. I am
sticking around to see what topics come up. And if I
get frustrated or bored, I know that I will need to
post something that I think would be nice to discuss
instead of complaining about what others are posting.
Keep the music spinning.
Lou
