Subject:Re:Choped Leslie and RBIII vs RBII
Hi all:
I built a FrankenLeslie 825/145 about 2 years back. It
came out fine and can rock and roll all night, but
there is limited bass as you all can imagine due to
the lack of cabinet. I even called Eminence and spoke
with an engineer and there just isn't enough cubic
area to allow for proper resonance of the speaker. The
top end screams just fine. I wired up the 825
connectors to accept a 147 amp piggy back style and
was content for a while to swap between solid state or
tubes. I just took the 147 amp and did a mod for my
760 2 weeks ago and I am very happy with the sound of
the big cabinet. Not too bad to haul around either.
The 825 will remain solid state.
Like most here, I am looking to go lighter if possible
without sacrificing too much of "the sound". Has
anyone gigged the 21 system using an organ and EP? It
seems to me it might be a good solution even with the
size/weight of the 2121. Anybody have any stories to
share good or otherwise. The only hitter I've seen
using the 21 System was Roger smith with TOP. He used
2 21 Systems with his new portable B3 & Yamaha. I do
have a 2101 for rehearsals and real tight stages; cool
concept and so far it is working out for me. I do run
my XK's through a SEPA for some snap. Thanks for the
time.
