Well, to each their own. I owned an XK3 for about 18 months, and bought an Xk1 (much better feeling keyboard). I couldn’t gig with either’s sim. Flat out, couldn’t do it. I did it, hated it, said never again. The only leslie sims I can tolerate are the Electro’s (and the Stage and the C1’s), and B4. B4 is superior, but for just bringing a board and plugging in, Electro is it. It’s not perfect, but everyone that ever hears it is stunned by how it sounds, and I personally think it sounds very good, unaccompanied. In the context of a band, it’s fantastic. I have found myself using it more and more. I bought my Electro 4 years ago for an overseas tour where weight and size were critical. The year before, I did the same tour, and bought/brought a Vcombo. I sold it immediately after that tour. (Video/audio of that tour is kinder than my impressions of it, which is a bonus for it; but the bottom line is my hands actually hurt after playing that thing for 45 days
straight.) The year I bought my Electro, I used it and liked it a lot (a compliment, as usually after 45 days straight of this type of instrument sans leslie, I’m pretty tired of it). Even after buying an XK3, XK1, and acquiring my Receptors and B4, I still love the Electro. I actually won’t sell this keyboard. It’s only recently that I’ve begun to use its EPs and pianos for rehearsals, and I love ‘em. (Yeah, even the weird piano.) I couldn’t gig pianos with it because of the keyboard (I need weighted). But to bring it back on topic, I think the leslie sim is excellent. Not my ideal leslie speeds, but in context, I have no problems being musical with it. I can’t say that for the XK stuff (I had the module too), whose sound I love through a leslie (nice and ballsy).
