A word about Valhalla:
Be careful on the finish. I recently received a music rack and the top back
piece from the pedal box from Valhalla. They were able to match the stain
pretty well on the cheek block we sent them, but the finish was inadequate.
They used the right stuff, nitrocellulose lacquer, but it needed about 5 or
6 more coats and a bunch of polishing to match the sheen and smoothness of
the organ's original finish. I have these pieces at a buddy's who builds
guitars right now to get them finished off properly.
If I were to order a leslie repro cabinet from them now, I'd get it
unfinished. Maybe I'm too picky, but the original Hammond and Leslie
finishes set a pretty high standard. I also hate the way urethane finishes
look - just not authentic. Valhalla does great woodwork though.
