Subject:Re: OT anyone doubling on guitar?
Used to have a vibratone. it was my first leslie along with a Fender Contempo before getting my B3/122. I also play rock guitar. Played many a gig with a strat or les paul strapped on while standing at a B3. The Roadbox is missing the lower frequencies for me. Sounds like only the horn is connected. The x-over on the Vibratone was set at a different x-over point, more for guitar tones, if I'm not mistaken. and the speaker(woofer) and styro rotor lent to a guitar sound. The cabinet was open on top and the sides with the rotor covering the speaker that spun on its side. That said, it was missing the top rotor for an organ sound and not really made for organ. It had no amp either so your guitar amp helped out. It would be real easy for Speakeasy to make a vibratone that is actually suited to a guitar even moreso than a complete organ leslie. IMO. Or voice a leslie for guitar. Is the Roadbox in the vid the same used for organ? if so a one size fits all doesn't really fit "all." I never liked the sound of a 122. 145, etc for guitar. The midrange where the guitar was strongest was never apparent. The frequency was either too high or too low.
