Subject:Re: MOTION SOUND R3/147

I had one a few years back. It's a good unit, of course after I tore
it apart and rebuilt it. I lengthened the horn (it had the old white
horn) and enlarged the horn cabinet with wood walls instead of the
styrafoam enclosure it came built with. the result was a much better
tone, but still peaky in some areas, which I'm sure can be eq'd to
taste, the low rotor sim has to be carefully tuned to get a smooth
sound. for me it seemed to get a little bit quiet when switched to
fast (low rotor sim only, horn volume stayed consistant) but if you
find that sweet spot, it should work out good for you.
It was a great unit for its time (I think they discontinued it '98
or '99) so find a good deal, don't overpay for it.
In short, it is very flexable, letting you control virtually every
aspect of the sound, speeds, ramp times and mic and balance controls,
and offers unbalanced and balanced outputs (1/4" and XLR)
Hope this enlightens you a little bit.
