Subject:Re: Hammond Model A Project (followup)

Thanks, Dave & Steve, very helpfull.

Yes, I do remember seeing a picture of an exposed keyboard
with adjustable springs long ago. I thought it was customized
project, rather than early production. I could probably use a
force gage from work to check and balance the entire range.

I understand that B2 and earlier had more precious metal in the
contact wires and busbars. they should be in better shape despite
the age, as long as the keys were not held down while working the
cleaning tabs.

Several follow-up questions.

Any info on the keycap material? one piece molded plastic?

If the keycap edges are sharper than the later models, does
this imply hand damage from doing a palm slide or gliss?

Furthermore, If that is a problem, are later B3/M3 keycaps
a compatible fit as replacements?

Thanks again -Ken (Long Island, NY)
