I have some MP3s on my website with the CX-3 through a real Leslie, and through the sim, with an without a little EQ and preamp help:

Bottom line, it is possible -- but difficult -- to tell a recorded Leslie from the sim + EQ, but it's small differences, not big ones. The audience will probably not know the difference, even members who know what a Hammond sounds like. You and your bandmates, that's a different story: the 3-D effect just isn't there, not with any purely electronic sim.
