I have a feeling that 90% of his sound is from the amplification and
distortion. He is using a VK7 as discovered in this picture:

I have always been a huge fan of Hugh Banton. His organ playing is so
distinctive. And you just can't beat Peter Hammill's vocals and writing. I
loved H to HE when it first came out in 1970. Change my whole musical
direction.
Again, listen to "Man Erg" with headphones. What a sound!!!

Although you can get a great sound out of the VK7, I think this sounds
more like the VK8 with its amps and overdrive models. Logically you
might want to use the older VK7 to have a slightly different clone
sound, but also logically you might want to have both sound engines the
same to play both boards at the same time. There's not a huge
difference once either one is "really" cranked up, and the VK7 chorus
is top-rate. It could be either model because all I can really see
is 'V|' before it's obscured. Chorus was both off and on during
passages per my recollection. When on it sounded lush and just right -
at this level/genre of playing it's hard to tell. I didn't hear any
fast Leslie/simulation - maybe on slow as there was something kind of
there.. but the combined fx with guitar = WOW!
I'd really like to know what he used for preamp/amplification, going
through a main board, a Leslie isolated offstage on slow or stop plus
amplifier for the synth sounds he played on the VCombo.
I'm not sure I heard any Leslie other than the onboard sim(s)? Maybe
the organ sims on slow speed all the time and chorus from either organ
engine.
Very interesting, hadn't seen these guys in a while. I'm a Roland fan
myself, so I'm stoked, ha ha.
