It is my understanding that the included soundcard is already pretty decent. If you
download ASIO drivers, you should be able to run softsynths just fine. You will need some
type of MIDI device, such as a USB interface. For more money, you could also get a more
robust device, with multiple MIDI in and out, and also multi channel audio input and
output. That would be overkill for just playing one or tow softsynths at a time. Just
curious ... if you already have Logic Pro, why not just use the included EVB3?
