Subject:Re: Bruce Katz

I can still remember the first time I heard Bruce Katz, he was filling
in for Gary Versace with the Sheryl Bailey Trio. They are a kind of
bebop thing, but Sheryl can get pretty out there. However, Bruce was
from another planet! He was using one of those new Portable B's from
Suzuki hammond, the ones that have metal rails around them. All they
seemed to be missing was the pallbearers. His playing was monstrous!
I did get a CD from him, which was more blues, and a little more
controlled, but still the same excellent playing, called "A Deeper
Blue" with some impressive piano work as well as a ton of organ stuff.
I'd highly reccomend it.
