Subject:NI B4 II - anybody using it live?
I'm considering building a rig using B4 and
some other virtual instruments to run on
a laptop for live and studio. I'm totally new
to the VST plugin approach and at this moment
I haven't even tried one. However, I'm considering
going that route as I've heard that it can really
slim down a keyboard rig as far as rack effects,
preamps, heavy keyboards. With this approach, in
theory all one needs is a laptop, a good controller( maybe 2),
and amplification. In fact, I've read that Herbie Hancock
runs his whole rig on a laptop ... Anyway, I'd appreciate
comments from anyone who has had success doing this in terms
of what a good hardware configuration is to use. Specifically,
what is the best midi/audio interface for doing this? Firewire?
USB? What has lowest latency? Also, what how much RAM should
I require for the laptop I have built. I've been doing research
but the options seem to be endless. Maybe someone out there is doing
this and has a simple working solution already???
Thanks in advance.
