Sorry, but I have to disagree with that. If you can, watch The Rascals
doing "How can I be sure," and also watch The Mamas and Papas in just
about all their Ed Sullivan appearances.

The story that I had heard was that The Rascals were so unhappy with
one of their live performances on the Sullivan show that they would
only come back if they were allowed to lip sync. Considering that I
heard that story when I was 16 from someone else who was 16, it
probably wasn't true.

Now every time Sullivan had Ella Fitzgerald on his show, she performed
live.
