Hi Lawrence,

If you can still get the 1829, then it is NOT the one I'm thinking of. The
last time I bought one was in 1978, and when I tried to buy another one in
~1995, they were long gone. The driver that I'm thinking of was pretty
small: about 3" in diameter, and maybe 2" thick. It had a built-in heat sink
that made it look like a large pinion gear. It was used in the EV Sentry IV
PA speaker system, probably for the big midrange horn. It did have a
phenolic diaphragm, and was 16 ohms. It was also nearly indestructible. I
put one (with a threaded adapter) in my singer's 122 (which I played with a
C-3) to replace a blown V21, and when I moved away and left the band, I let
him keep it. That was a fantastic driver!

Thanks for your compliments, but I haven't moderated this group in about 3
or 4 years. I was the moderator from the start (as the VOCE Support Group)
in late 1998 until about 2003, IIRC. The moderation duties are taken care of
by Eric Lawson, with help from Dan Sevush and Ben Ninmann. They deserve the
thanks at this point. I'm just another member!
