I just completed my midi footpedal set for use with my cx3. I sampled two octaves worth of pedal notes on a sampler, and i hook them up to that. you don't need a great deal of sampling time, or a particularly expensive sampler. It's not a perfect setup, but it does well on a budget. I'm not competant enough to gig with the pedal board yet anyway. Cheers, Jim

The first thing I noticed was that the action on the XK-1 is quite
alot harder (tension wise) than the Korg. Also, the trigger point on
the key is far deeper the the Korg. I find the Korg action to be very
complimentary to the type of playing required... fast playing is not
difficult.
The second thing I picked up was that the XK-1 sounds far more mellow
and introverted that the Korg. I was trying to get that joyous bright,
growly sound that so many hammond greats used.. No luck. It felt like
the sound really needed an injection of life and I couldn't inject it
no matter how hard I tried.. It seems to lack the midrange cut that
gives the bite I like.. Maybe an EQ setting with a mid rise could help.
I found that a setting of 888 on the XK sounded like a setting of 838
on the Korg.
Admittedly, I didn't delve into the edit section of the XK, but I
sensed that the overall sound lacked gravity.
The third thing I noticed was that the interface of the Korg is far
more intuitive.
Positives for the XK-1 are: portability/weight, and the addition of a
third separate voice for the pedal.
In conclusion, these machines are made to a different price point so
to compare them directly is akin to comparing apples and oranges.

For now, I have a greater respect for the instrument I already own..
my next challenge is to successfully integrate foot pedals with my
Korg.. any advice is much appreciated!
