Subject:XB2 problems Help

I was wondering if anyone could help with a HAmmond XB2 problem. I
believe my XB2 is version 1.0 made in 1991 . I got it from a guy who
never took it out of the house. Everything seems to function properly
with the exception for a static type noise that is pretty much present
all of the time. It sounds like a tube amp motorboating or a scratchy
pot turned continuously. I took it to a tech who works on old
tonewheel organs. He said he thinks it is one of the 40 pin IC chips
on the motherboard. He also says that it is a well documented
problem. He does not do this type of work inhouse and would send the
motherboard to hammond ( or is suggesting that I do this.I am an
electronics guy who can replace components and do testing but am
unfamiliar with the XB2. Anyone out there ever had this problem? Are
these 40 pin chips available and if so where? Are they easy to
replace? Anyone know what one it could be? Any way to troubleshoot
this problem? Has anyone sent a motherboard back to Hammond Suzuki for
testing? Does anyone know a tech in the Philadelphia, PA area who
actually does this kind of repair inhouse? Any idea how much these
chips cost? Does anyone know where I can get a schematic from? If I
would purchase a firmware upgrade will this solve the problem?( same
chips?). Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
