Subject:What was the 'Clone' landscape in 1988?
Ok, for those of you who have been in this specialized field for a few
years more than me. (I played keyboards in '88, but not an organ clone!)
I am trying to figure out what clone might have been used in 1988. My
main guess would be an analog CX-3 or BX-3...but was there any other
dedicated clones out yet, like hammond XB series or such?
For those who know anything about Phish, I just got Colorado '88, a
live show from the 'bar band' days, and the organ Page is playing
seems to definately be a clone. This is a few years before they were
signed, and his association with GOFF proff. Its funny, in retrospect,
it doesnt sound half bad in some contexts... except I dont think
whatever it was had a leslie 'stop' mode...the fast/slow transition
sounds good, but the Stop mode seems to be Sim Off mode, which sounds
like a transistor organ!
Thanks,
Greg
