Yamaha made a similar (poor) design choice with their new Motif EX series.
They expanded their sliders from four to eight. I several demo videos where
they demonstrate how you can turn the sliders into "drawbars" for their
Hammond sounds. So what happens to the last drawbar?
Pretty dumb for a $2800 keyboard.

Check out the Novation SL controllers. They have a template for Logic and
there is a review of
them (along with other controllers) in the latest keyboard mag. I use one
live to control an
Access Virus rack and I like it. Great action and I like the pad/ribbon
controller - map x to
filter cutoof and y to resonance. from a clonewheel perspecitive its too bad
that it only has 8
sliders. The M-Audio UC-33 might have a Logic template as well. if not, you
could create
one.
