No, it's definitely not a condenser, but it's designed somewhat along the lines of one, I guess. It sounds pretty much like one. But it's rugged like a dynamic, and takes the SPLs like one. I like the built in double wind screen, too; the SM-57s have to be screened, but the PE40 doesn't seem to need it.
