Subject:Re: Altering Hammond depth of chorus (Was Is Voce V5+ worth the upgrade?)
Hi Alan,
If you look at the instruction manual for the VK-8 or VK-8M, you'll see a parameter (available only through SysEx) for a "vintage" of vibrato/chorus: '50s, '60s, '70s. Hammond did change the level over the years (among other things like the anti-key-click circuit), based on the tastes of customers and their own engineers. When I was growing up, I played a neighbor's B-2 quite a bit, and I agree that it didn't have as heavy a chorus as some of the B-3s I've played.
That's part of the problem when saying that a given clone "doesn't sound like a real B-3." WHICH real B-3 are we talking about?
And yes, Sal really knows his Hammonds!
Regards,
-BW
