Subject:Re: OT: Bass Amps for Keyboards
It really seems the most important what other instruments you're
playing with. I set up my Electro with a pair of Eden CXC110's and
played mainly organ and a little EP with a guitarist that could play
down and dirty, and a drummer. The sound was great, never heard an
organ sound that grungy and funky. I carried all the LH bass with
organ or EP, the guitarist had a solid bottom to play/solo against,
and the drummer and I could (fortunately) work together well.
Per what I've been reading you'd have to pick just the right
amplifiers for a full band, but I'd start my looking at different
bass amps. For organ trio I already know what I like. Bass amps were
the way to go for EP's waay back, but we didn't have the nice
acoustic piano patches, and organs were kind of 60:40 whether guitar
or bass amps if you weren't using a Leslie. A big cabinet with
multiple speakers was more forgiving of what you were playing through
it than today's kind-of specialty bass or niche bass amps.. like
players have to have a different kind of amp for their style.
However, this would still do the job (YMMV) for organ, ep, acoustic
piano, and synth -
