Subject:RE: [SPAM] Looking At Motif ES Rack / Your Comments?

On the advice of some lurkers here.I decided to give my original Motif
another chance for pianos. Boy, am I glad I did. I also like the Natural
Grand but I have tweaked it a little to my liking so it would cut through a
mix. I also added the PF series piano card and the famous C3 piano card. I
can honestly say I don't much care for the C3 card but I do like PF one.
Its' sounds cut really well in a rock situation. YMMV The C3 card may be
good for some but I've considered getting rid of it and buying a another PF
series card to increase polyphony. I heard others say that the ES pianos
aren't as good as the original, a matter of opinion I'm sure. I also don't
think that the C3 card shares samples with newer CP series boards because I
loved that thing when I played it. I just can't get myself to buy another
heavy/bulky 88-note keyboard, I've got too much gear now.I really wish
Yamaha would put those sounds out in a module, I'd buy one right now!!! I
also have an old P-50m that I really like, as well as a General Music
RealPiano Expander. Love them both!!! Hopefully I didn't make your G.A.S.
worse by my statements.Good Luck!!!

Subject: [SPAM] [CWSG] Looking At Motif ES Rack / Your Comments?

I am going to look at a used Motif ES rack tomorrow.

As far as I know, the Motif series still seems to be the best combination
of acoustic and electric pianos in one package ( please correct me if I am
wrong ! ).

I have had the Motif 7 for about a year, and came to terms with the acoustic

piano sound but I never did get used to the touch response of the electric
pianos. They seemed to "bark a bit too quickly. I have to hit my Rhodes
pretty hard to get it to change sound character.

My favorite sounds were the " Natural Grand" and the " GM electric piano 1".

The reason that I liked the GM piano was that I could get a fat sound out of

it. Some of the other piano samples sounded a bit thin, and GM 1 sounds
pretty warm to me.

I am hoping to get some good sounds out of this ES rack. I am going to have
a tough time finding a controller, as tendonitis affects my ability to
successfully play a full weighted keyboard. I have a Roland A 33 that I like
a
little better than the Motif 7 keyboard.

I have actually heard that some people like the original Motif acoustic
pianos rather that the ES ones. Let me know if you have found this to be the
case.

I would also be curious if some of you have found some decent organ samples
for the Motif ES.

Thanks
