Why do you say your X-5 is beyond repair?

Yep, through a leslie, the XM/XK stuff is excellent.

My old Hammond X-5 died beyond repair and I was looking for something
to replace it with. Money is for ever an issue and the cheapest I could
find was the new Hammond xm-2. I bought it along with midikeyboard
Oxygen 61. oxygen has 9 sliders/drawbars and lots of knobs and buttons,
everything programable. No need to spend money on the
drawbarcontroller. I still have my old Leslie 760 so it was exciting
the first time I hooked xm-2 to the leslie. Along with my two friends
(guitarist and drummer) we placed two cheap miks in the centre of the
basement and recorded the session with a computer as a recorder. Wow, I
was surprised how well the little box sounded. This is my tip of the
day: If money is an issue get xm-2, oxygen 61 and an old leslie 760 and
you will have a big fat Hammondsound at a reasonable cost! My playing
is only a weekly hobby (amateur) but you can at least hear the sound of
the Xm-2 through a leslie 760 if you listen to "Bits and Pieces" if you
go to myspace /sidosparet.
