Hi Darren,
I enjoyed listening to your tunes. Here's a quick first reaction based
on listening on small PC speakers. As far as musicianship is concerned
I preferred the guitar on version 2, both his playing and the way the
two of you interacted. I preferred the drums on version one. I know
these are rough mixes and that I listened on cheesy speakers but as far
as the mix is concerned the organ doesn't sound enough like the lead
instrument in version 2 where as the guitar does. Also I think there's
something strange about the way the drums are miced in both versions.
Or at least the way they are mixed. There too low in version 1 and
although there louder in version 2 they don't sound like there in the
same space in either version, if you know what I mean. With a trio
sound like this I think there should be a feeling of intimacy and I
think you get that with the organ and guitar but not the drums. I hope
this is helpful and it is in by no means meant to diminish the wonderful
playing here. I wish I could pull something like this off.
Good luck,
Jay

Subject: [CWSG] Some Market Research
Hi everyone,
In September I recorded 10 of my tunes. I spent two days in the studio,
with a different guitar/drums combo each day. Tony Monaco was the
producer.
I'm happy with the results of both days but having trouble picking the
master takes. Day One's trio was with some talented young guys, Day
Two's guys are seasoned pros.
I've uploaded two version of my tune "Willow" to my website
