Hey - that wasn't me writing - I've only been reading so far. Here's
my two cents:
That sound you are looking for is the "holy grail" that everyone needs
to find for themselves. My best advice is to definitely use a full
blown real Leslie or Speakeasy rotating speaker. No sim or small amp
will do it for that shimmering burbling sound you are looking for. Its
got to be the Speakeasy Roadbox, the Motion Sound Pro 145 or bigger,
or the Leslie 3300, or a vintage Leslie. They all sound different, and
it depends what kind of music you are playing as well. You've got to
get out there and try these things to compare. We've got all 3 in our
store so people can compare, and they all sound great in their own
way. Sometimes the only way is to buy them and try them, and keep
trading up until you are happy. Its a constant process, but the sound
is the inspiration for great playing!
