Subject:Re: XK-3 question for owners
Maybe my answer "Yes" was a bit too abrupt.
Yes to all of the questions you asked about the XK-3. It can do just
about anything. The ability to have presets not change things or
change them even individually are all possible. you have 12 banks of
presets in those 12 B&W reversed keys and individually each of those
banks has 10 usable preset keys. Those banks can be told to follow
your "B", drawbar preset key or they may be allowed to change
everything or just individual parameters, bank by bank. And that's
just it's patch bay. The rest of the instrument gets downright
scary-insane. Buy it some good tubes and listen to it change any
pre-conceived attitudes you may have had.
The XK-3 is a tweaker's dream of paradise or a tweak-challenged
person's worst nightmare. So many combinations and layers of
combinations you can make. It's more mutable than a "NEW" B3 in
several ways, but no analog key click. A small sacrifice. (well, about
$17,700.00 worth of small sacrifice, anyway)
And the new XK-3c will have even further refinements. Competition is a
good thing. I like what it's doing to Hammond-Suzuki.
