Hi Allan,
I've owned the Pro 3, Pro 3T and now the Pro3X. I also have a
Leslie 44W converted to 2-speeds and Steve Hayes cleaned and
recapped the amp. I love the convenience of the MS and the mosfet
amp is WAY better than the tube pre on the older 3T.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Leslie. Maybe I'm getting older or
just more practical, but I played an outdoor festival last Sunday.
Normally I'll bring the leslie to these larger gigs. I decided at
the last minute to opt for the MS. Even as the headliner I knew
we'd have limited time to set up and I didn't want to rely on my
drummer (the only guy in the band besides myself without back
issues) to help me hoist this thing up 6 or 7 stairs.

I've got to tell you, not only was it louder than the leslie it just
sounded great. There are a few things to consider here.

1. The leslie is pretty much plug and play - the MS does require
some dialing in until you hit the sweet spot. It's there you just
need to find it.
2. A lot of the stage sound relies on the bottom amp. Quality in
speakers and amps here can make a HUGE difference. I've just
recenlty upgraded my amp and OMG!
3. Getting the FOH guys to "get" the with the MS program. Any
good FOH engineer will know how to mic a leslie. I can't tell you
how many times I tell them "Mic the top and think of this DI as the
leslie bottom" and I get that deer-in-headlights reaction. Sounds
simple - to me anyway. Sometimes all that makes it to the house in
MS top only - or interestingly - MS bottom only. One solution,
which was done out of necessity and lack of inputs last Saturday, is
to just put one mic about 1.5' - 2' infront of the entire rig. You
might nave to deal with a little stage bleed, but this way what you
hear is mostly what you get in the house.

Other than those points, John Fisher has got, in my opinion, the
right combo of electronics, drivers and convenience in this thing to
fit just about any gig I do from small club to festival.

I am using a XK-3 - SE pre - into the Pro3X.
