Actually, I have noticed a return of the Analog CX-3. I think
Wolfmother uses one and I think I saw the keyboardist from Umphrees
Mcgee using one as well.

I agree -- with caveats. From a purely functional point of view, the
1979 CX-3 cannot compare to the 2007 CX-3, IMHO. The analog CX-3 has a
fat, warm sound, but it 1) has no vibrato whatsoever; 2) has a terrible
Leslie sim (by today's standards); and 3) has no user presets. In
addition, the digital CX-3 has two sets of drawbars, splits, better
ergonomics, more natural key click, etc., etc. I would expect a price
more in the $350-450 area.
However, any piece of gear approaching 30 years old is subject to both
the "gotta have it" and "own a piece of history" factors. I've seen
entry-level combo organs sell for ridiculous prices on eBay, simply
because they were vintage, and in great shape. Personally, I'm not that
into nostalgia, but there are lots of players and collectors who are.
Given the scarcity of analog CX-3's at this point, who knows?
Regards,
-BW
