Subject:Re: miking a MS Pro 3T and LP-120

I've used the same setup for years, and have settled on a Shure SM57
on the top, pointing in to the front vents with enough angle to cut
down on wind. For the bottom, I use an AKG D112 (though a Shure Beta
52, or any good kick drum mic will work) placed right in front of the
bottom vents, on-axis with the drum. The 57 gets all the creamy
rotary sound, and the D112 gives enough "whumph" to round out the tone.

I've been fortunate enough to have the space to keep it offstage, and
put the mix of the two mics in my in-ears. Good Lord, does it sound nice.

Let me know if you want pictures, I can grab some this next weekend.
