Subject:Re: "Leslie" advice
Ron,
I am using the same set up CX-3 into PRO-145 no pre amp I don't think it 's required .My rig sounds great!! It took a while to get controls set right but now I can get a mellow growl to Jon Lord distortion with no problem .
The CX-3 sounds very good without PRo-145 .With ,it's something else But there is somthing about" moving air" that's hard to discibe.
I've had thi rig for about 2 1/2 years now and plan no changes .
I have A-B compared it to my 1959 A100/ 145 combo and it is hard to tell the 2 apart .
I use David Jaques 1955 B3 settings on CX-3 by the way .
Hope this helps.
John

I would appreciate some advice/input before I spend a bunch of cash.
I've had a CX-3 for awhile, playing through a MS KBR-3D. Frankly, I'm
not that impressed with the rotating horn in the MS, and generally
prefer using the stereo section of the amp with the CX-3 sim, which is
pretty good, although sometimes a little too "chorusy". My question
is whether going to a "real Leslie" will take the sound to a new
level, or whether I'll be disappointed with a small incremental
improvement (not enough bang for the buck). Specifically, I'm looking
at a MS Pro-145 as the proposed "Leslie". My usual venue is small and
relatively quiet (unmic'd). Recognizing that this is all pretty
subjective, I'd like to hear from anyone with an (experience-based)
opinion. Is this likely to be a "wow", or a "I think it kinda sounds
better"?
Thanks,
Ron
