Subject:Re:Best clone w/o Leslie

I've been reading these threads for years and see the
same differing views. The REAL answer is that there is
NO right clone for everyone since each players needs
will be different. I own a nord electro 61 for gig and
practice on a C3 with 147. Recently I tried out a XK1
and Xk3 side by side.

One thing is certain, and that is the current batch of
clones are all excellent tone and leslie wise
especially when considering the offering years ago and
that 99% of punters can't tell and don't really care.

The choice will come down to
-style of music you play (rock, jazz, blues etc)
-are you a dedicated organist or use other sounds too
-do you need two manuals
-whether your intro to hammond was on a VK7 or XB2 or
a B3/122.

Playing jazz I would rate a C1 or XK system (yes I
know the XK1 has a better sim)
Playing in a covers band, then get a XK1 to go with
your Triton or Motif
Playing covers and need to travel light get a Nord
(electro or stage)
Need drawbars get an XK#

I have never played the Korg but it would fit in
between the Xk1 & XK3.

thnk about what you will use it for to help drive your
decision.

Cheers Robert
