Subject:Re:Hammond XK-1 or Roland VK-8 without a Leslie?

I prefer the leslie sim of the VK8m to the Hammond XK1. I also prefer the
chorus vibrato of the Roland over the Hammond.

I prefer the overall tone of the Hammond XK1 to the Roland running straight
through a leslie. To me , the VK8m does require a bit of EQ to make it sound
fat, but I solved this by using a subwoofer in addition to using my Vk8m
with a leslie 860. Now, the VK8m gets as fat as you could want.

The XK1 is a great sounding clone. The chorus vibrato thing wasn't for me or
I would have kept it. But I played one through a 122 on chorale the other
night and loved it. And I love the keyboard too.
