Subject:Re: Hammond B3 dimensions
Replying to myself:
Sorry I got the names wrong in the tail of emails.
Just some more words about the Valhalla custom stand for the Hammond KX-3 traditional system: I have seen photos and the result is fantastic and hassle-free to set up. Since the traditional system is less deep than a B3, the result looks a lot like a B2. This is the most logical solution.
The only issue I have is with the back panel which has those openings and the cables will hang out from it - all visible on stage. If I lived in the US I most likely would talk to Byron of Valhalla Wood and ask him to make a custom B3 cabinet based upon his XK-3 stand with added work on the cabinet to provbide space for cables and tube cooling so I can have than nice, classic plain B3 back panel. This is also a suggestion I am making to people located in the US. Doing it all from scratch plus finding a fine furiture maker (Byron is top notch BTW, I have a set of his fine B3 cabinet and bench legs).
Best luck with your B3 cabinet projects!

Dimitris,
I have these pictures. They show an excellent black, foldable and roadworthy XK-3 cabinet and bench. He told me how he did it (MDF and pine legs), but he doesn't want to make and sell these cabinets. The Valhalla stand is, as you mentioned, for the traditional XK-3 system (available in the US only) and the rear panel still has the ugly cutouts (needed for access and cooling the tubes). The Valhalla solution looks great for the organist, but not so great on stage. A B-3 needs that plain rear panel.
Thanks anyway,
Best wishes,
Christian
