Subject:Re: Need Help Adjusting XK-3 Key Click
I heard and played an XK-3 through 2 CRATE KB50 amps. The Leslie Synth
was incredible if you separated the amps by about 10-12 feet. It takes
real stereo separation (which the XK-3 has in spades!) to fully
realize the synth/effect. It's still lacking the 360 degree swirl of a
real Leslie and the body-feel thing that a real Leslie does to you.
My XK-3c is supposed to be delivered in mid June by the B3-Guys in
Nashville. I pick up my Leslie 3300 this coming Saturday at the
Sacramento Guitar Center. Best price on the planet even considering
our horrible Cali state-taxes. They kicked in a 30 foot 11 pin cable
and the cheap Hammond/Leslie foot-switch (FS-9H) so I can run my
Yamaha PS-300 through it while I wait for the XK-3c to arrive. The
entire package was less than just the 3300 at anyplace I could find,
online or not, and no delivery charges!!
I've already purchased the Valhalla Woodworking B3-style XK lower
stand and leg-set and a reproduction B3 bench. I bought one of
Valhalla's foot rest assemblies too, because I didn't buy the
over-priced and ugly Hammond XK Traditional bench, which has the
footrest attached to it already. My footrest will go on the rear box
of the pedal set, where it belongs. Byron Coy of Valhalla is "THE
MAN"! If you want a truly fine looking "Baby B3", he's the man to see
about it.
My XKLM Traditional lower manual and cabinet ship this Wednesday from
The B3-Guys in Nashville.
It's almost all here!! (I guess all y'all can tell I'm getting
excited! :o)
With the forum's admin's permission I will post pix of it when it's
all here and assembled.
Oh, I almost forgot, to help give the Leslie 3300 some upscale home
manners in our dining room/parlor (I've got to keep my wife happy, a
road-box like the 3300 just doesn't match her decor sensibilities for
the dining room/parlor), Byron (of Valhalla) is making me a 122 shell
with a booster box inside on the bottom to get the 3300 up to 122
sound vent height. He's also routing one extra louver in the bottoms
of the 3 panels and one extra upper louver as well. He's done this in
the past for a Motion Sound Pro-145, so I'm not the only crazy person
in the world as I imagined I was when I first asked him. This will be
an after Xxxmas present.
