Subject:Choice of Clonewheel w/o Leslie
I am playing in a band which plays mostly classic rock with an emphasis on
the Grateful Dead. We also play the Allman Brothers, Santana, the Band, the
Stones, Clapton, etc. I have no intention of carting around a leslie or
buying a separate dedicated amplifier or speaker system for the organ in my rig.
My main keyboard presently is a Yamaha S-90 which I use mostly for piano,
clav, rhodes, brass, sax and strings.
I am using a JBL 15 G2 powered speaker as a monitor and putting my rig
through the mains.
In light of all of the discussion, which clonewheel is best for this type of
music where I will be relying solely on my present amp/PA configuration?
I particularly like the organ sounds coming from Greg Rollie, Greg Allman
and Chester Thompson.
Although I also like the sounds of Jimmy Smith on Hammond, I am not
realistically going to be playing jazz organ in a jazz trio.
I can't afford the new Electro two manual keyboard and don't like the action
on the Electro 2. I have little capacity for tweaking synths where the
manuals and buttons are totally confusing.
Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
Rick
