Can it be that drawbar settings have an influence? I have a pro XK-3 system and - as you mentioned - even with overdrive cranked up it sounds (almost) free of harmonic beating. Of course there are very slight beatings even in octaves, but these also occur in the originals (perhaps with a slightly different pattern and different with each model) and of course we have the slight random pitch changes in each tonewheel. I just played all imaginable chords and triads both in 888000000 and with higher drawbars pulled out to see what happens to that high "shimmering" so crucial when upper drawbars are out. Analog type synths fail miserably in this department because they will always beat with their rigid single cycle phase-locked waveforms in equal tempered scale.

No annoying harmonic beating anywhere in my XK-3. I used overdrive over the 12 o´clock mark (= red area), no chorus, leslie sim off. So I guess the XK-3 is a good choice.

All because of tuning issues--any overdrive makes it worse. The
easiest way to avoid this, especially with sampling is to make sure
the octave pitches of each tone are matched exactly the same. I
successfully achieved this on My old Korg triton--but then I had phase
cancellation problems when playing chords.
