Subject:Re: multi board rigs and system engineering mini rant
I'm nowhere near the midi guru Bruce is, but my rig is pretty versatile.
Fullblown: A90 (88weighted controller) with Electro as slave controller (no audio) going to a rack with Motif Rack, FantomXr, Muse Receptor and JD990 modules. Electro has an Event Processor + (programmed by Mr. Wahler, thank you!) which enables the Electro to control B4 in the Receptor.
Otherwise, one of my smaller rigs is the Motif 8 controlling itself and a Receptor, and my Electro controlling itself.
Most keyboards today have enough midi controller capability to handle *most* needs. For my more elaborate midi setups and control, my A90 is fantastic, and has never shown a need for the MidiSolutions boxes, which in themselves are a true godsend and make things so much easier (and cheaper) than they might be otherwise.

organ, and EP sounds (Fantom), nice warm classic synths (Virus), and
it all fits in one keyboard and two rack modules. (It could be one
rack, but I'd rather not concentrate that much weight in one
place). The BX-3 has Mod and Pitch wheels, which helps with the
synths. The vocoder is pure BW-trademark excess, and could be
removed from the setup; arguably, the Leslie is optional, too.
Depending on how complicated your needs are, one or both of the MIDI
Solutions boxes could go, too. If I needed to REALLY cut back,
eliminating the tube preamps is a thought. And if I was willing to
control sounds and volume by switching patches only, the Behringer
box could go. If a GM-like set of synth sounds is OK for your
needs, even the Virus could go.

Hi Bruce
Thats a unique ( somewhat $ ) solution. Never heard of one like it!
Hows the piano work out on dual 61keys organ beds? That system
likely took an expert like you several iterations of set ups to
come to. Thats my rant ! I just think the average (Non synth
engineer) Music player should have a more integrated solution
available. Back in the day you bought the Hammond/ leslie the
wurli/rhodes and you played :)
PS. My QS7 is still working weekly (on all keys) Thanks to you
