Subject:Oberheim OB-3^2 - follow-up

Hello,

I received my OB-3^2 (keyboard version) on Friday. Overall, I am very happy with it. Yes,
the overdrive effect is horrible, as everyone says, but I never even weighed that option
when considering my purchase. I'll drive the tube in the Pro3tm if I need to.

I think the OB sounds great through my Pro3tm. It is warmer and more authentic
sounding than my Micro BII. And the lack of 'beating' is nice for a change. Not to
mention, REAL DRAWBARS! However, I think it's interesting (weird) that they are "clicky" or
"ratchet-type" drawbars. The onboard EQ and Reverb functions are great, and I love the
fact that they're simple dials and not hidden somewhere in a menu. The keyboard action
is OK for my style of playing.

A few years ago, I purchased a Speakeasy clone preamp to use with the Micro BII, but sold
it a while ago because I wasn't "blown away" with it like most people seem to be. Does
anyone use the same particular setup as mine? (OB-3^2/Pro3tm/KC-500) with a
Speakeasy preamp? I'd like to hear your opinions.

I know that the Obie is somewhat dated, but for the price I got it for, I think it was a wise
purchase. I can't afford the current clonewheels (I really want an XK-1).
