Subject:Re: Electro pianos
You're still going to get your best info on this covered-in-massive-
repetitious-detail-for-years subject on the NordElectro group.
Basically it's a stereo instrument and that's how it sounds best =
two amplifiers.
"Poor man's stereo" = one output to your amp, one output to the PA,
is one solution. Some players prefer the Left output to the Right.
Others put a blank "dummy" plug into one of the L/R outputs to mix in
some of the other channel's stereo signal.
Another fact is that all of the instruments except the acoustic
pianos are mono samples and will sound the same in mono or stereo.
Some players use the Electro just for the Rhodes, Wurly, Clavinet;
others just for the Organ, most for the one-instrument answer to
performing.
The acoustic pianos are stereo samples, the rotary/leslie sim is a
stereo effect. Just bring another amp along, smaller and less
powerful makes almost no difference - put it up a little higher on an
X-stand or whatever. Once you're playing in stereo, or find that one
of the work-arounds does the trick for you, then you can get a fair
evaluation of whether you like the board or not.
For every Electro player at CWSG, there's 10-20 at NordElectro group
with some players belonging to both. With NordElectro's 1900-
something members... there must be something good about the Electro.
I think you're looking for "perfect" right out of the box, but
there's a learning curve involved.
