I do not have an Electro but I do have a CX-3, left (mono) to my
Speakeasy (mono) preamp and from there to a Mono channel on the mixer
PA and It sounds killer.

Is it necessary to get both right and left outputs into a single mono

..it does if you're only amplifying 1/2 ( one side) of the stereo signal...
