You sound like a real b-3 player. If I were a real b-3 player, I
wouldn't go near a c-1, regardless of how good it sounds. However, I
am not a real b-3 player. I grew up playing keyboards and
clonewheels, and through that process, I learnt a few things about
how hammonds operate. As such, the C-1 is the perfect instrument for
me. For you, a bx-3, or two xk-3's are probably better. From what
I've heard though
...I am a real B3 player, although I now prefer a bass player...and I do
prefer the C1. I cannot afford to hire roadies to help me gig casuals...I am
not willing to buy a van just to help me haul my C3/Leslie around...and I
love
being able to move with one hand what used to take me 2 people to move
around, and yet get a sound that I had to modify my old B3 just to get. If I
close my eyes, I am playing my old B3...and my sound man was blown away that
the
C1 sounds as big and mean as it does. I think that it is a great instrument
for not only keyboardists, but Hammond player that can get used to the
virtual drawbars. I did it !! I found that I have gotten somewhat adept at
hitting 2 buttons with each finger, allowing me to in essence grab a handful
of
drawbars.
I can understand someone not being able to adapt to the virtual
drawbars...and for them, that's ok. But to assume that a "real" B3 player
wouldn't
go near one is somewhat erroneous and assumptive. Give it a little time,
and see how many real players bow to practicability in the future...
