Well let me put it this way: if the new XK-3c is significantly better than the older model, I guess I'll have to get the newer model if I can afford it. I have a fully repaired 1982 Solton leslie (the internal leslie sim is unusable), but that's not the same as a tube preamp and a real leslie. Also: with lots of npose on stage, it's hard to mike a leslie, especially when recorded onto multitrack.
I put it plain and simple: without listening to it (not possible where I live) I bought the XK-3 system. Looks great, but after knowing clones like the NI B4 (not to mention vintage Hammonds), I was rather disappointed by the lack of fullness and the metallic upper end (key click, chorus/vib). The hardware interface is great though!
...awaiting first comments on the XK-3c.
