Subject:Electro/C1 sound engine

Finding a Nord C1 to demo is pretty damn impossible. But if you’re in the vicinity, check out Gand Music in Northfield, IL. They’ve got a nice friendly mom-n-pop vibe, and an open area chock full of some new and used keyboards. It’s a clean, no-pressure environment. They have a Nord C1 on display to play, and as an added bonus, you can hear it through a Speakeasy Roadbox 3, which is also on display, or through a Pro 145 (always interesting to compare the two different approaches). They also have the full complement of Nord Stages on display too (the Compact had a very nice feeling keyboard, and since I didn’t bring my Electro, I could compare the organs on the C1 and Compact). It took me almost 90 minutes to get there, but it was worth it to put my hands and ears on the C1; the pics don’t do it justice, and the size of it has to be seen to believed…it’s deceivingly small! They’ve got a website (google Gand Music, IL) for the info. If you’re like me, you gotta play
these things before you can put your $$$ down, and this is the only place I know of to do it.
