Subject:Re: Steve at the Hammond - what WAS that 760?!?

I thought the Leslie 760 was designed as a "single channel Leslie" from the
factory. How can it be made anymore "single channel" that it already is?

At least Harv Olsen calls it a bi-amped single channel model Leslie. Al Goff
seems to think you have a "single-channel 760" to start with also.

So how is Steve "going to make a single channel Leslie" out of your Leslie
that appears to have started out as a single channel Leslie?

And how is this "floorbox" function you're purchasing any differently in
function from the Leslie Combo Pre-Amp II that originally came with the Leslie
760? (I mean the Leslie Combo Pre-Amp II was 1/4" to 9-pin with fast/slow and
off.). Are you simply substituting a brake for the "non-rotary" or "off"
function on the original Leslie "floorbox"?

Am I missing any improvement here? I'm confused.

Steve also arranged to pick up my second eBay-purchased 'mint' 760 in
Pennsylvania and brought to his shop for a checkup. He's going to make
a single channel Leslie out of it with a floorbox for 1/4" to 9-pin and
add a stompbox for fast/slow speed and brake. It turns out the 'hand
towel' handles pictures on the sides are actually pretty solid hardware
handles, so they're staying. Some of the original 760 handle inserts
were known to pull out, so it's like insurance - and it turns out the
cabinet came with a cover that has slits for the extra handles.
