Subject:Re: XB-2 asking price
I think $500 for a used Hammond XB-2 is a decent
price, though I think I'd try to get it down to $475
or $450. I paid more than $1,000 new for it a long
time ago. They're pretty indestructible. I've used an
XB-2 with an old Leslie 122 for years and I think it's
one of the very best "portable Hammond" sounds you can
get. (Although the XK-3 is reportedly even better and
"fatter.") If you go this route, use the XB-2 with a
Leslie 122 amp, not a Leslie 147; I found a very large
difference in sound quality; the 147 sounded real
reedy. RK
