Hi Ryan,
I can't comment on the Speakeasy motors, but 40 seconds ramp time? My well-tuned 145 -- in single speed mode -- takes about 15 seconds up and 20-22 seconds down. I've always considered that to be pretty standard. The only way to extend that time is to loosen the belt all the way, which is probably both rough on the system and asking for jumping the track.
