Subject:RE: My vote for a separate Speakeasy list
The problem is that all clonewheels lack the true sound of a Hammond
console. This is because the sound generation comes from digital samples or
digital modeling. What Speakeasy has done is create accessories to help
restore the sound that is missing from the clones. First it was with their
basic Speakeasy preamp which recreates the Hammond AO28 preamp. This gets
you about 90% there. I know it made a huge difference in the sound of my
CX3. Now for those who do not gig with real tube Leslies, comes the AMA
which is basically a miniaturized Leslie amp.
If there were other companies who were adding benefits to our sound, believe
me we would be talking about them too. But Steve Hayes has found a market,
and that market is us. If you make good products then advertising is easy.
Word of mouth is the best advertising there is.
So there you go. This discussion is quite relevant to the list because these
products, aimed at the Clonewheel market, directly affects and applies to us
(musicians who play clonewheel organs). So maybe you should start your own
list called "Clonewheel, but you can't talk about Speakeasy products List".

Subject: [CWSG] My vote for a separate Speakeasy list
I am generally most interested in the actual clonewheel instruments and /
or some of the do it yourself modifications to leslies, which is the
direction
I prefer to go rather than put out an investment for new Speakeasy gear
that I have never seen nor heard.
