You had a freight claim. UPS requires that the shipper file the
claim. The shipper ships you a new one, you send the damaged one back
and then the shipper gets reimbursed for the damaged one by UPS. If
this is service beyond the call of duty to you, well good for you.

Posting as some great pronouncement that a freight claim is being
handled properly is like that movie where Steve Martin went running
around shouting "The new phone books are here, the new phone books
are here".

Feel free to expound your perception of the greatness of all things
Speakeasy to your hearts content. But was it necessary to put a dig
into Hammond in the process? Particularly since you now say that the
case you kept it in for protection couldn't be expected to actually
protect it. Stuff that gets bounced in and out of cars and on and off
stages has a chance of getting broken, no matter how well it is made.
