Subject:Bigger bands.

Hi All,

I wondered many times why isn't known by the masses
the Hammond nor the Leslie speaker ?

Guess if a clip /story / documentary style were shown
(sorta BBC did recently ) our loved duo would get more
interest for a plethora rather than for a few
initiated individuals.

Even i've heard from 50sh people consider "tube
stuff" as something for HAM aficionados "from the
radio golden days " worst yet, " almost defunct
nowadays with 5.1 , 7.1 channels home-theater stuff

Is that way of thinking being getting more and more
global ? :(

I would like to see asap on THC, why not ?

I've seen there lot of WWII and surfin' boards
history, even for a half hour.

If having H/L stuff shown there , such movie time
would be a fest for a lot of mortals !

As told by a friend of mine when usually kidding
(btw theologian) If masses should be paying attention
to 'organ, pipes, pedalbass, etc. ' H&L won't be
longer considered a cult any longer :)

Guess probably get to see more tributes to
Jazz/Gospel/R&B :) rather than the youngsters doing
endless search of weird synth sounds.

I repplied, yes that's true ! better yet if churches
should be keeping their organs instead of selling H/L
,Lowreys, Wurlis etc. (not to mention Johansenn) and
buying synth stuff and congas.

I'd say that IMHO believe that are more piano/organ
player than guitar counterparts, sorry if the above
sounded offtopic.

Last Sunday I went to hear a Big Band concert
(20 musicians mainly brass) playing amazingly Glenn
Miller repertoire and the likes (all philarmonic pros)

I wondered why is not common to see Hammonds in such
scenarios (or even see clones) ?

I'm not awaiting for Percy Faith-like brass easy
listening (it could be Klaus Wunderlich if in Germany
or Miguel Ramos in Spain) but more bands adding brass
sound beyond the boundaries of trios, quartets, etc.
conversely bigger groups (i.e. like BB King did at the
Apollo live concerts )

Despite all, I listened last year two tangos' here in
Buenos Aires surprisingly performed by an orchestra
(50+ members )from Scottsdale, (Arizona). They played
with the same warm /stacatto and syncopa as it was
performed by local musicians, wow !

On the other side, anybody there has heard the bunch
of foreign big bands going to US southerner festivals
?

Hey, truly good classics are now getting more and more
global beyond of their native countries.

Anybody perceived that phenomena on last years,
conversely after mp3 success ?

I'd like to know more performers from other countries,

If thorougly done by good performers , I'll like it ,
beyond styles.

So any .mp3 link is put here for perceiving/listening
H/L with bigger bands will be highly appreciated.

Hope not asking too much.

Rafael
